EUNIS signs collaboration agreement with the Vietsch Foundation

The Vietsch Foundation and EUNIS, the Association of IT Services in European Higher Education and Research institutions, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly support advanced technology development for scientific research and higher education. Thanks to this collaboration agreement, EUNIS will support the Vietsch Foundation in the acquisition of new project proposals.

2017 Medal of Honour Awarded to John Boland at TNC17

The 2017 medal of honour of the Vietsch Foundation was awarded to John Boland, outgoing CEO of HEAnet, Ireland's National Education and Research Network. The medal is awarded annually in recognition of contributions of lasting value to the research and development of advanced Internet technology aimed to support science, research and higher education. John Boland received the medal in Linz on 30 May, during the opening ceremony of TNC17, the largest European research and education networking conference, organised by G√ČANT and hosted this year by ACONet

Vietsch Foundation Supports eduVPN Project

The Vietsch Foundation funds the eduVPN project, an initiative to make VPN technology commonly available, by building better and more user-friendly tools. We live in a society that wants to be online whenever possible, and WiFi is a popular technology for achieving this. But the use of public WiFi guest networks can be dangerous, as it makes our connections more easily subject of rogue attacks. EduVPN is an implementation of methods and facilities, originally designed for educational institutions, to run trusted networks over potentially rogue connections.

"Research and Higher Education Technology Fund" kick-started

The Vietsch Foundation and NLnet cooperate in Internet R&D for research and education

The Netherlands based Vietsch Foundation (www.vietsch-foundation.org) makes the first donation to the "Research and Higher Education Technology Fund". The new thematic fund is managed by the NLnet foundation, a public benefit organisation established in 1997 with the mission to promote the exchange of electronic information. As a framework for this initiative, the two organisations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding collaboration possibilities.
