The Vietsch Foundation Medal

The Vietsch Foundation will award a Medal of Honour on an annual basis.

Who will be eligible to be awarded the next Vietsch Foundation Medal of Honour?

Eligible are new initiatives which have led to new organisational forms that help accelerate innovation in the internet community or to new services. The annual Medal of the Vietsch Foundation not only can recognise the individual or team who came with the original idea, but also those who managed to arrange an organisational set-up so that the original bright idea led to a sustainable organisation/service.

Nominating people who you consider are worthy recpients of the medal:

2017 Award

The Trustees of the Vietsch Foundation were unanimous in their choice of John Boland, outgoing CEO of HEAnet, Ireland's National Education and Research Network, as the recipient of the 2017 Medal of Honour

2016 Award

The Trustees of the Vietsch Foundation were unanimous in their choice of Jan Gruntorád Director of CESNET as the recipient of the 2016 Medal of Honour

2015 Award

The two recipients of the first Vietsch Foundation Medals of Honour were Andrew Cormack, Chief Regulatory Adviser at Jisc and Roland Hedberg, senior researcher at the University of Umeå in Sweden.
